What's your motivation to make a change? Do you know? Motivation is one of the most important factors in your journey to change. Without it, you'll feel a little lost and lackluster, like you're just going through the motions. And who wants that?! Answer these five questions below to get a better sense of who you are, and where you want to be. Let's find your WHY!
First, block out about an hour of time and find a comfortable, inspiring space to sit. Grab a fresh journal, a cup of something to sip on, and work on clearing your mind. Try to remove any unnecessary distractions - think of this like a date with yourself. Do your best to truly show up, and take this exercise seriously. Who knows where it could lead you!
1. Where am I now?
2. Where do I want to be? (Pick a time frame for this - it could be six months, a year - you decide!)
3. How will this change make me feel?
4. What will I gain if I make this change?
5. What will I lose out on if I don't?
Take some time with your answers. Go slowly - truly understanding the answers to the questions above will serve you greatly in the weeks and months to come. Feel free to get creative, too! You don't need to just write the answers on a piece of paper. You can draw, pull clippings from magazines, or even create a digital board to represent what you want this change to look like in your life. The more specific you get, the better. Visualization is a huge step to making your dreams come true.
The Follow Up:
Once you've completed this exercise, make sure to put your answers in a place you will see them every day. Don't just toss this in a drawer and forget about it - you need to be reminded of your goals and motivation every day. Trust me - this truly works! The more you see your dreams, the more likely you are to act in a way that brings them to life!
