Wake Up Call Retreat Recap

May 12, 2017

I'm back from one of the most incredible experiences of my life, our very first Wake Up Call Retreat, held in Puerto Rico. When Emily Miranda-Thompson and I first decided to plan this retreat on a rainy winter day, we had no idea how big and beautiful the concept would grow to be.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I had so much fear going into the process: would the schedule work as planned? Would the resort be a good fit for our group? Would the women who were joining us from all over the country get what they were looking for out of our weekend? So many thoughts were swimming through my brain as I boarded my flight to San Juan. But, by now you know my stance on fear. So, you know I didn't let those thoughts stop me. This was it - the weekend we had been waiting for. It was time to step past fear and step into the present. And you know what? It was everything I had dreamed of and so much more than that, too.

I've had a hard time putting into words how much this weekend meant to me. It was like a colliding of worlds - my corporate past, my art studio, my time as a stay at home mom, and my journey as a life coach - were all crashing into each other. I used every part of myself - my story, my drive, my desire to connect and inspire.  It was thrilling and terrifying and totally wonderful. I can't wait to do it again. (Yep - you read that right! We'll be announcing new dates soon. If you missed this one, I'd love for you to join us for the next.)

Here are a few of my favorite photos of the trip. You can find the full album over on the Imperfectly Balanced Life Facebook, if you'd like to see.

Our gorgeous welcome bags and gifts to attendees - yoga mats, a journal, and other special treats

Our group on the first night - we met for drinks and introductions. I knew then we had a special group for our first retreat.

The beautiful Emily leading us through a gorgeous yoga practice on our first morning.

Such a peaceful and calming spot for our yoga sessions. Gran Melia was an incredibly special backdrop for our weekend.

Kicking off our life coaching sessions. We tackled road blocks, dreamed big, set goals, and learned about ourselves.

The group with their acceptance jars, a powerful exercise in letting go.

Kelci lead us in a relaxing watercolor class - the perfect creative activity to give our minds space to dream and wander.

The result of our watercolor daydreaming session.

A little afternoon Zumba session to get our energy going!

We ended up in a rainstorm at El Yunque. It was truly powerful! A wonderful bonding experience and way to say goodbye.

Emily lead us through an invigorating mat Pilates class before our final breakfast. Watching the water as we practiced was so calming!

Kelci, Emily and me on the last night. So thankful for this team!

Until next time, my beautiful Puerto Rico...
